"Fear Less, Fail More, and Live Bolder"

ree

To answer your question yes, I read self help books. They are good for the soul! This will be one of my shorter posts since there isn't a lot to be said about self help books, but good news is there won't be any spoilers this week! This is a huge feminist empowerment book so if that's you I encourage you to give this one a read.

NO SPOILERS SAY WHAT????

This book is about not being afraid to fail, without failure we can not grow. She explains what it was like to be the 26% in a professional computing occupation and how she had to be brave every day not perfect, but brave. As long as you take that first step it doesn't matter what happens after that. All that matter is that you were brave enough to try, to jump, to fly, to not regret not trying something because you were afraid. She encourages every woman to celebrate failure as a sign of taking a risk, there is a different more invisible kind of victory and that's daring to fail. In the book she explains that from a young age, boys are lauded when they take risks. Girls, on the other hand, are told to be perfect, but steer clear of taking chances. Coding, and jobs in tech in general, are all about taking risks. Mind you I am not in coding or tech, but you can apply this to any kind of job or dream that you may have.

“One way we build back our resilience and take the sting out of rejection and failure is by normalizing it … display your rejections proudly, they’re a mark of your bravery.” She even has an entire chapter on “surviving a big, fat failure.” I have applied these rules to many of my dreams that I have currently I have to be Brave I can't be afraid to jump and try something new. This book not only changed my thoughts on this, but how I now feel about failure. I now look at failure in a total different aspect now, this book helped me realize that failure isn't a terrible thing at all but a growing pain. Yes failure can hurt; but you grew just like growing pains and now you learned something new as well as went out of your comfort zone.

Although I enjoyed this book sometimes the things she was saying were repetitive and it took me longer than usual to get through some chapters. Also I am not a tech woman I can apply her ideas to my life but the whole tech thing got alittle boring for me.

If tech is something of your interest or you need a little push in the right direction than this is the book for you!!
I would love to hear your thoughts on this book if you've read it. Lets start a conversation

Thank you so much for reading my blog review and as always I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!! Until next week, stay reading, Selena Torres.
